UAT Goes to Italy in the Summer 2012
Hello,
I am professor Paul Andrus from the University of Advanced Technology in Tempe, Arizona. I am an art professor and at UAT we produce future Game Artists, Game Developer, Game Programmers and Designers for the future. I am planning a trip to Italy with 15 art students with the intent of producing a new game based on the famous horse race of Siena called "The PALIO". This is an ancient race that heralds back to the Renaissance and is one of the few ancient spectacles that have survived to this day. (To learn more about this race Google Siena Italy or the Palio)
We in tend to stay for two weeks studying every aspect of this race and the city making visual studies the entire time. We will draw and paint the riders and the horses and all of the characters involved and make architectural studies of the city and the racing area in the Compo. To do this we need to invest in new digital equipment for filming and making drawings and paintings. There are other large expenses also in renting vehicles and fueling them, housing costs, admissions to museums and parks, in addition to airline travel and daily living expenses. This trip will cost our students an additional $3000.00 on top of their tuition for the semester.
In these troubled financial times it is difficult for students to even afford attending college, much less afford to travel abroad. We are seeking donation to cut down on the expenses involved. As I mentioned these are troubled times for all and making donations of any kind, no matter how worthy a cause, is asking for a lot. But, this is a good cause and this trip will add to the cultural experience of their college experience. Therefore we are asking for small donations of $3.00, $5.00, and $10.00. We are not asking for anything higher than $10.00, unless you can afford to do so. But we believe that with the generosity of good people like you we will reach our intended goal.
Thank you for your generous donation.
Sincerely
Paul Andrus, Professor of ART
